Swift Creek Mulies

Angela was helping out at the school today, so I tagged along into town with her. I left her at the school and went and did some shopping. I had some time to kill and decided to drive up swift creek. There are several hundred head of mule deer wintering near the mouth of the canyon.

I have posted a couple of the pictures I took below.

Easter Morning

Hunting for eggs outside just wasn't practicle this year, so down stairs had to do. The Easter Bunny hid the eggs in the family room, the hall, the pantry, Ruby's room and closet, and the utility room.

Community Easter Egg Hunt

Today was the community Easter egg hunt! And what a great day for it. The 3rd day of spring turned out bright and sunny! The temperature at scramble time was a whopping 15 degrees! However there was absolutely no wind, so it really was pretty nice.

Big Turnout

Of coarse I forgot to take pictures during all the action. It was all over in a matter of seconds. Each of the kids managed to snag an egg with a prize from one of the local merchants. We had to drive around town after the hunt to collect the prizes. Ruby found a couple of eggs worth a presidential gold dollar from the Bank of Star Valley. She has a knack at finding the dollars, She found an egg for a Sacajawea dollar last year. Spencer found an egg with a prize from 'The Cottage' here in Afton. He picked a windsock from the prize bucket. And Preston won a prize from Hastings Hardware. He picked a large Beanie Bear.

Friday Angela boiled three dozen eggs and had them sitting on the counter when kids came home from school.

Middle Name Meme

I have been tagged by Tiffany at The Schmelter Family Funny Farm with a Meme. So here we go. It works like this: You must list a fact about yourself for each letter of your middle name. The fact must start with the letter. After you post you are suppose to tag one person for each letter in your middle name, and leave a comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

Now which middle name should I use? My real middle name or the name I give when people ask me what my middle name is? Usually when people ask what the W. stands for I tell them Weathergill. It is something I have been doing since I was in high school. It always gets an interesting reaction, but it isn't really my middle name. I think I will use my real middle name. It will be much easier, because it is much shorter! It is Wade. Or is it? hmmm Maybe it is Weathergill after all? You will have to decide! Here goes

Wonderer: I have always loved to travel. Even if it is near by. I love to go places I haven't been before. And beleive me, if you look there are a million places to go that are not far from where ever you call home. Most weekends I will pack Angela and the kids up and we will go exploring. It is easier to do in the summer than the winter, but we still go in the winter at times also. I have been in 40 + states and 5 countries. Not a huge amount, but I still love to go. If I had the means I would travel even more.

Abnormal: Why be normal?

Dad: I have 3 of the greatest step kids and 3 of the greatest kids any Dad could ask for. I love them all, with all my heart, and try my best to do right by them. They are awesome!

Expert: Lol... A former drip under pressure!

Okay that was a bit weird. Trying to praise oneself isn't so easy. But anyway I have played along.

Congratulations Melissa!

Melissa has had a goal of becoming a nurse ever since she was still in high school. She has ran into some bumps along the way, and it has taken her a little longer than she would have liked it to, but she has never given up on her dream. This week she learned that she has FINALLY been excepted into the nursing program. Way to go Liss! We know she will do exceptionally well. We are very happy for her, and very pleased with how well she is doing. That girl has some spunk!

Spring Has Sprung

We woke up to 4" of new snow this morning, and as you can see it was still coming down! So it has now snowed both days of spring this year!

Oh Brother...Dad Has the Camera Out Again!

Can't a Boy Eat in Piece?

I love this picture. Angela, Ruby, and Preston laughed and laughed when they saw this picture. There is so much of Spencer's personality in it (if you know him like we do). He loves his vegetables. He will eat the green stuff all day long. Give him a choice between fresh carrots, broccoli, and some ranch or a good steak and he will choose the veggies every time!

Grandpa is On the Mend!

When Preston found out that he had missed out on the photo for Grandpa's 'get well soon' card, he was really upset. So Ruby helped Preston make this card, and now he has his turn to show Grandpa how much he loves him!
Grandpa had his surgery yesterday, and today he is recuperating. He should be going home tomorrow!

Get Well Soon Grandpa!

Grandpa Wooner is having surgery tomorrow and we are wishing him a speedy recovery! For a couple of days Grandpa may not be able to chase the nurses, but we are sure he will give them a hard time!

Preston wanted to be in the picture too, but he couldn't keep his eyes open long enough for Mom and Ruby to get home from wrestling tonight.

GET WELL SOON GRANDPA!

It hasn't Melted Yet

Some of my family in Nevada has been asking about the snow. Some of them have thought that it surely must be melted by now? Well, not quite. I took these pictures today.

Ruby and Preston sit on the snow bank next to the garage. The bank is high from pushing it off the cement in front of the garage. For the most part the snow is still touching the bottom rail of the fence. Therefore I estimate that the snow is roughly 2' deep over most of the yard.

I plowed the drive today to try and get rid of the slush on top. The warm day made the drive very slushy.

Under the Weather

I have been pretty sick this past week, but I am now on the mend and starting to feel much better. I picked a great time to get sick, the 7th was my birthday. We had a big prime rib dinner Saturday night with some friends. I did the cooking, and everyone tells me it was the best prime rib I have ever done! I was too sick to even try it! Today I finally had a sandwich, that Angela made, and it was good.

Angela and I are now both working with the WEBELOS. The kids are still wrestling. I will be sure to keep up a bit better on this blog now that I am feeling better!

That Kid has a Hole in His Head

Preston Loses His First Tooth!

Preston has had a loose tooth for the past few days. Tonight we sat down to eat BLT's and Preston became upset! He was tired of that loose tooth interfering with his eating. I grabbed some of Angela's trussing string and made a loop. After a bit of distracting I gave a hard yank, and out came the tooth! Preston's eyes grew to the size of saucers, as he couldn't believe his mouth was rid of the tooth!

I am sure we will be posting about Spencer's first tooth in the next few days. He has two loose bottom teeth.

Plan, Prepare, and Serve a Nutritious Meal.

Ruby has been wanting to plan and cook dinner for sometime now. So this week she set down and planned out a menu, made a list of items that she would need, and tonight she made us dinner! She is working on her Faith in God Award, and Plan, prepare and serve a nutritious meal, is a requirement.

She made Shepperd's Pie, which was made by layering hamburger, creamed corn and potato's in a 9 x 13 casserole dish and topping with cheddar cheese. A delicious drink made with pineapple juice, sprite, and raspberry sherbet! YUMMY! and vanilla pudding served in an ice cream cone and topped with whipped cream and a cherry! It was very good. Preston had thirds!
