Crystal Lake

We went camping this past weekend. We left early Friday morning and returned Saturday Evening. We camped at Poker Hollow. We had a great time riding the quads, swimming in the creek (Smith's Fork) and Crystal Lake, and relaxing.

We really had a great time together. I will post a few more pictures later in the week.

Katie's Mini Truck

Recent high fuel prices have made a very noticeable impact on the roads of Star Valley. Foreign mini trucks are starting to pop up all over the place. You see them every where you go! There are now several mini trucks running up and down the highways and back roads of the valley. And it is no wonder. They are cheap, and they get great gas mileage. Katie (my car pool partner), picked up this truck for $6,800. It has a little over 12,000 kilometers on it (7,500 miles). It gets about 50 miles to the gallon, and drives comfortably at 60 miles per hour.

I have previously posted about Ruby's fastpitch team winning the championship. Now the story has made the paper, so I am posting the article from the Star Valley Independent.

A Day on the Greys

Saturday we took Melissa and Glen up the Greys River. The river flows into the Snake River at Alpine. We followed the river from Alpine all the way to its very original source. A spring near 3 Divide Pass. It is a beautiful drive!

Corn on the Fork

The kids love corn on the cob! It is a favorite with them. But tonight Angela made the dull ordinary corn. You know, the kind that comes frozen, and with no cob involved.

Spencer, being Spencer, improvised!

Waa laa .... Corn on the Fork!

Buckets for the Noggins

Angela and I took the kids to town yesterday and purchase helmets for them. They need them for when we go quading this summer. They had to try them out at home on their 'quads'.

Spencer sporting his fancy red helmet.

Ruby looks oh so Cool in Blue!

Preston is 'Bad' in His New Dome!

Notice that Ruby and Spencer have the same style of helmet? And that Prestons is a different style? That is because Spencers helmet is a Youth XS. Ruby's helmet is a Youth S. With Preston we had to go all the way up to an Adult M to find one to fit that huge mellon head of his!

Dad feels much better about them riding on the quads, now that they have head gear.

Laparoscopic

Grandpa Howes had surgery on his knee yesterday. From all reports the surgery went very well and he is recovering quickly.

Sister Racheal has been a big help since Grandpa's accident, helping with the errands and getting Grandpa and Grandma to doctors appointments. Sister Kerrie went down from Pocatello today to spend the week and to help out also. Sister Susan is leaving Pocatello on Saturday to spend a week with Grandpa and Grandma to help out.

We are all wishing Grandpa a speedy recovery.

Multi-Car Storage Unit

Leave it to a six year old to come up with such an ingenious idea. I have included pictures of the front and the back of the unit! It holds up to two dozen cars, IF the 4 deep well compartments are used! There are 2 deep well compartments on each the front and the back.

Surprise! Susan and Troy Pop In

Susan and Troy surprised us with a visit tonight. They where here for the 'Burton' family reunion. Ryan was also with them. Troy's mother is a Burton and lives here in Star Valley. They took the kids with them up the hill to Troys Uncle's (Bruce and Betty Davis), house to watch a fireworks show. (We had a show at our house last night). They had to head back to Pocatello tonight. It was great to see them.

I didn't get a picture, so a picture-less post it is!
