Ruby made this very nice bouquet, at activity day, for Angela. I think she did an excellent job.

A GIRL!

Ruby and Connie Lou

Girls are a rare thing in the Howes family. My parents now have 31 grand, and great grand kids. With the birth of Constance Louise to my sister Racheal and her husband Jay the count now stands at 27 boys and 4 girls. If you have a look at kids that are under the age of ten, the count was 20 + boys and 1 girl; Ruby. Now she has some company, and Ruby couldn't be happier!
Congratulations to the Gubler family and there new little sister.

1,600 Miles in Eight Days

I haven't posted for some time, and I have some catching up to do. Last week we were on vacation. We traveled over 1,600 miles over a span of 8 days, and visited relatives all along the way.

Our journey began on Saturday the 9th of August as we traveled from Star Valley to Carlin Nevada. We spent the night there at the Comfort Inn, at a very reduced rate, thanks to Jessica! Thanks again Jessie. We visited breifly with niece Jessica and Brother Jared.

On the 10th we traveled to Fallon Nevada. We stayed in Fallon two nights at the Super 8 motel, again at a reduced rate. Thanks to Wesley! We visited Grandma and Grandpa Wooner, along with Uncle James and Eddy. We also spent time with Ashley, Wesley, and Mellany. What fun we had in Fallon. On Monday we drove to Reno and back and had lunch with Melissa and Glen. It was great to see them again so soon!

Late Tuesday we made the journey back across Nevada, this time on HWY 50 to Ely. We stayed 3 nights with Grandma and Grandpa Howes. Randy, Jared, Trent, Jay and I poured 7 yards of concrete for Grandpa's driveway, and we went out and cut and hauled home 10 pickup loads of wood for Grandpa! you may remember he had an accident earlier this year, so us boys are taking care of his heavy work this summer.

Friday the 15th we drove to SLC and stayed at the Airport Comfort Inn. The kids loved the swimming pool there! And Finally Saturday we made the journey home, via Logan, and Preston Idaho.

I will begin to post photo's over the next few days of the trip!

Laparoscopic

Grandpa Howes had surgery on his knee yesterday. From all reports the surgery went very well and he is recovering quickly.

Sister Racheal has been a big help since Grandpa's accident, helping with the errands and getting Grandpa and Grandma to doctors appointments. Sister Kerrie went down from Pocatello today to spend the week and to help out also. Sister Susan is leaving Pocatello on Saturday to spend a week with Grandpa and Grandma to help out.

We are all wishing Grandpa a speedy recovery.

The Breakfast

We started the day off with a great breakfast, prepared by Troy and Susan. The quiche was outstanding!

The Dinner

Saturday afternoon we had a holiday dinner. Boy were there some good food served up. Racheal made her pomegranate fruit salad, we had turkey, garlic mashed potato's, and all the trimmings. I am going to share some of our families best recipes starting with Kerrie's stuffed sausage mushrooms. They are the best! She certainly wins the award for the best appetizer! Yum Yum!

The Gift Giving

The moment the kids have been waiting for all night has finally arrived. It is time for the gifts. We each buy a $5 gift to exchange. It is tradition to start with the youngest and work up to the oldest.

Aunt Kerrie and Aunt Rachael help some of the younger kids with their gifts. Carson, Payton, and KK each receive a present as Ruby looks on.

Casetin

Spencer with his Helicopter. He and Preston received gifts from Paxton and Jackson, the other twins in the family.

Preston with his helicopter. Payten and Jackstons Dad is a pilot...Hmmm I wonder why they gave helicopters!

Carson shows his air pop gun! His Dad is so happy that he got a shooting toy!

Ruby begins to open up her gift. It is a fishing pole. Caleb gave the fishing pole, he did not know Ruby would get it - his Mom and Dad are a bit concerned when they see that Ruby has the fishing pole. But hey Ruby is very happy with it....She loves to fish!

Grandma made blankets for all the grandkids and great grandkids. I found it amazing that she did not use the same material twice! Every blanket was unique and fit the personality of each grandkid.

Who do you think Ryan cheers for? He is true blue, through and through.

Tristin

Spencer

Jordan

Calvin and Caleb sport their new blankets.

Ah Payten looks so warm! (I think it is Payten, he is a twin, could be Jackston)
