All in a Days Hunt

Friday I went hunting with John Cunningham. John is the Safety and Enviromental Manager at Smoky Canyon. We where hunting elk. We finally saw four elk very late in the day, that were very far off. We did not have time to put a stalk on them. however we did see all kinds of wildlife throughout the day.

This beaver was working hard at building a damn in the nearby creek. He was puttting the hurt to several aspen trees.

We saw deer all day along, including these four. We saw several nice bucks. Of coarse deer season is closed in the area we were hunting!

We also saw a few moose, including this cow and calf. Besides the animals above we also saw a couple of golden eagles, a badger and lots of water fowl.

Swift Creek Mulies

Angela was helping out at the school today, so I tagged along into town with her. I left her at the school and went and did some shopping. I had some time to kill and decided to drive up swift creek. There are several hundred head of mule deer wintering near the mouth of the canyon.

I have posted a couple of the pictures I took below.

Alfalfa for Lunch

Deer and Tractors

These mule deer are feeding on a hay bale at a house near the high school. This years snow has pushed the deer into the valley, and they find a nutritious meal wherever they can!
